Congratulations Samuel Basabe!

Samuel Basabe - Web-100000

Weston FC would like to take this opportunity to highlight Samuel Basabe. Sami has been with Weston FC since 2013 and is a prime example of the key qualities that we identify in our players. Sami started in 2013/14 when he was selected to the U9 Premier Black team. He earned an opportunity to compete at our highest level during the 2016/17 season.

His passion for football, love for the club patch and respect for his staff and teammates are what make us most proud as these are the things we try to instill in our players from a young age. Character is defined by how our players respond to difficult situations. Again, Sami is an example to our younger players as he was placed back in the premier program during the 2018/19 season. This is not easy for any age player but he accepted that this was best for his development and worked even harder. He earned a part-time position in the academy the next season and a full-time position in the 2020/21 inaugural season of MLS Next, the top youth platform in the United States. Follow your dreams with passion, humility and hard work and any goal is possible.

We are extremely proud of Sami and support his mid-season move. We wish him the best of luck in his new challenge in supporting Inter Miami CF’s U17 team. We believe he can add quality to their program and look forward to the possibility of him signing with the first team like other Weston alumni such as George Acosta and Ian Fray.
