Weston FC Names Munga Eketebi Chief Diversity Officer

Weston FC is pleased to announce that Coach Munga Eketebi has been named its Chief Diversity Officer. Munga is a former three time All American and national champion at Florida International University and long time college coach at both FIU and Broward College. He has been coaching at Weston FC for several years. Munga is well known and respected worldwide for his commitment to ethics, integrity, professionalism, and knowledge of the game.

Munga will oversee Weston FC’s initiative aimed at combating racism, hate and discrimination while advocating for social Justice in the sport of soccer. Weston FC is committed to creating policies and programs that protect and educate its youth soccer culture of players, coaches, and staff through a series of initiatives including educational sessions, guided discussions, and shared experiences. Weston FC has partnered with Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) the worldwide leader in training athletes and coaches about awareness of personal bias and how sports can be used to battle racism. Starting this week our coaching staff and MLS Next players will take part in PCA’s 75 minute interactive workshops on how to increase understanding of one’s own identity and biases, value diversity, and create safe environments on their teams to help ensure that everyone belongs. Weston FC is proud to be a leader in youth soccer in creating an environment where players from all races and origins can feel comfortable, safe and excel.
