RICHMOND, Va.— Freshman midfielder Liam Murphy of the Northeastern men’s soccer team was honored as the CAA Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference Monday, after helping lead the Huskies to a 2-0 week.
Murphy earns the honor after scoring his first career goal in the 4-2 come-from-behind victory over CAA foe College of Charleston. Murphy’s goal came as he fired a shot home off a Ryan Massoud assist, from outside of the six-yard box.
Additionally, Murphy sent in the cross that resulted in an own goal by the Cougars that put the Huskies up 3-2 over Charleston.
This honor is a first for the Weston, Fla. native and he is the first men’s soccer player to be honored as Rookie of the Week since Ryan Massoud was honored on Aug. 27, 2018.
Murphy and the Huskies are back in action at home against Boston University on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 6 p.m.
