The most frequently asked questions

Why can’t my child have the jersey number he/she wants?

Please refer to Uniform Policy - no duplication within age groups, due to guest playing opportunities and player movement.

If my child cannot attend a tournament, do they still have to contribute to the team cost?

Yes.  You have committed to a team and all team costs must be split equally among the players.

When does the season start and how long does it last?

Practices will start around mid August. Early season for U15 - U19 will start mid to late August and finish towards the end of October/beginning of November.  Regular season for all other age groups will start in October and end around the beginning of February.  The season officially ends on Memorial Day as tryouts for the following season generally take place on the first Tuesday after Memorial Day.

What league will my child play in?

This will be determined by the Technical Directors and will be communicated to you after the team is formed.

How many times a week will my team practice?

This will depend on the team but there will be at least 2 practices per week in addition to the fitness/futsal training schedule.

How much travel is involved?

During the league season for the regular SFUYSA League, travel will be limited to the tri-county - Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach.  For other Leagues that some teams may participate in, travel will be further and could include Orlando, Jacksonville, Naples, Tampa, etc.

Where do the teams practice?

Practices will take place at Vista Park and Weston Regional Park and the practice schedule will be posted on our website.

At what age group does Weston FC begin?

Our travel program starts at U8 and runs all the way through U18.

Do you have an office?

No, our address is simply a PO Box which only receives mail.

How do I find out if fields are closed due to weather?

There are several ways.  One is to refer to the Field Closure link on our website.  This will be updated after 4pm when notification is received from The City of Weston. Another would be to sign up to receive text alerts delivered to your phone via SMS (Text) message. Doing this is incredibly easy!  Just text the word ‘westonfc’ to 84483. Within seconds you’ll get a text notification telling you that you are now subscribed. We urge all players and parents to do this so that everyone is informed about field closures as soon as possible.

The final way would be to download the Weston FC app (available August 2016) and push messages will be sent as soon as the field status changes to “closed”. Please do not call the office line for field closures.

How much does the program cost and are there any additional costs?

Please refer to this page (toward the bottom of the page) for registration costs.  In addition to this cost, you will be responsible for purchasing your child’s uniform (approximately $150) and team costs for tournaments and coaches’ expenses.

Who do I contact if I have a concern regarding my child and his/her team?

Your first point of contact is the coach.  If this cannot be resolved, then you can contact the DOC for the age group.
