2017 Danone Tryouts

Weston FC Danone Nations Cup Team

US Club Soccer Tryouts

Open to boys born in 2005 & 2006 only

We are proud to invite you to our Weston FC Danone Nations Cup team tryout. Weston FC has accomplished significant success over the past five years in Danone Nations Cup; winning and thus representing the US twice in the past 5 years.

This team allows us to create the foundation for the academy team for the future; every player for the past five years that made the Weston FC Danone Nations Cup team has gone on to become an academy player the following season. This is not guaranteed but it does demonstrate the significance of this opportunity to join one of the most successful academy programs in the country.

  • Five years ago the 2000’s won and represented the US in Poland. George Acosta, currently with the US residency program, and Nico Garcia Murillo, currently with Atletico de Madrid (Spain) an U17 National Team, took part.
  • The 2001 team lost in the semi-final on penalties, while the 2002 team lost in the final. Youth national team players from these groups included Jose Rivas (01), Simon Vasquez (01), and Francisco Raggio (02).
  • Two years ago the 2003’s won and represented the US in Morocco. Nicolas Pereira and Bryan Lopez would go on to become part of the U14 youth national team.

We look forward to building a strong team once again; individual development and a team highly capable of winning the competition.

About Danone Nations Cup

The Danone Nations Cup is an international tournament for boys hosted around the world by Danone. The USA competition will be held at ESPN Wide World of Sports as part of the Disney Memorial Day Soccer Shootout presented by Danimals in Orlando on May 26-29, 2017. The winner of each country gets an all expense paid trip to the World Championships for 12 athletes/players and two coaches to compete against teams from 40 other countries. The location of the championship venue will be announced by Danone in December 2017.

Weston FC takes this opportunity to evaluate players, with the objective of creating the Weston FC Danone Cup 2017 teams that will participate in the Disney Memorial Day Soccer Shootout Tournament. Weston FC has had great success in previous Danone tournaments winning the Danone Cup twice in the past 5 years. The players from these teams travelled to Poland and Morocco to participate in the World Championships.

The Danone Cup evaluations are part of our identification and development process. This is an important event for our club and players who want to become part of the Developmental Academy program at Weston FC.
